This collaboration studies the scope of the phrase "I will raise him up on the last day." We focus on ch. 6 of Saint John, although we also have in mind the other places where the phrase appears. We try almost imultaneously the two phrases: resurrection and last day. We first study the deep and superficial structure of chap. 6 of Saint John. Next we analyze those verses in which the expression appears both in the development on the bread of life eaten by faith (6,39.40.44) and in the development on the bread of life eaten in the Eucharist (6,54). It is a question of evaluating the opinion of Bultmann, who attributes these verses to the ecclesial writing. Below we present our opinion on the homiletical nature of these mentions. Next, we study the scope of this expression in Marta's confession (11,24) and in the section on the rejection of the word as the cause of condemnation on the last day (12,48). Likewise we also stop at the discourse on the power to vivify and judge granted to the Son of man (5,19-30), which also speaks of resurrection of the dead and of approval or condemnation. We finish by highlighting the theological importance of the expression.
