Ideological Analysis of 1 Corinthians 1,10–4,21

This paper proposes to use the ideological analysis of discursive discontinuities
in knowledge proposed by Michel Foucault to analyze 1 Cor 1:10-4:21.
The Foucauldian guidelines of the critical method of studying discourses, such as
the occurrence of discontinuities in a historical moment of fundamental rupture, the
ruptures in the ways of thinking and how a system of ideas has been
developed, constitute theoretical tools of epistemological value. They serve to understand
the rupture with a culture's usual values and thoughts and the acquisition
and incorporation of a new ethical and social paradigm. This theoretical substratum offers valuable tools for the analysis of texts that allow us to study and get to know the Christian community of Corinth in the middle of the first century A.D., which was part of the history of the origins of Christianity when social, cultural and religious values were re-signified.
