Abstract

The text of LXX Pr 31,1-9 diverges from MT Pr 31,1-9. The fundamental
problem is to know if the discordant lessons with the MT are due to a different
Vorlage or if it can be brought back to the same or close Hebrew text by virtue of
translation techniques. With the purpose of deciphering the reasons for such dissimilarities,
this study applies Staffan Olofsson’s method and assumes the criteria that the theological heritage of the translator must be added to philological criticism.
The analysis shows that the literal and free translation techniques are fulfilled in
LXX Pr 31,1-9 and, it suggests 3 Kings 3,4-28 as a background for the semantic
changes present in the collection.
