Biblical exegesis analyses often devote considerable effort to unravel the structures of texts, using tools sophisticated methodologies and making various proposals for structuring. This dedication is solidly anchored in two convictions.
On the one hand, a discourse is not a mere succession of sentences without organization, but is built into an articulated whole. The second conviction is that the plurality of structures is a sign of the text's vitality, only expressible polyphonically. In this article I propose to study a series of questions in around the structure of Gn 17:1-27 based on these two convictions.
