Abstract

ROBERT D. MILLER II, Chieftains of the Highland Clans: A History of Israel in the 12th and 11th Centuries B.C., The Bible in Its World, Eerdmans - Grand Rapids - 2005, xix + 186 pp.

In this short book, produced from a doctoral dissertation, the author approaches an approach based on anthropological and ethnographic analogies to interpret the archaeological record of the central mountainous region of Palestine during the twelfth and eleventh centuries B.C. The most valuable contribution in this work is the use of an anthropological model to interpret the archaeological record of Palestine, a procedure that -more and more frequently - is presented as the best methodological option, replacing the mere paraphrase of  Biblical narratives.
