La identidad de los agitadores en la carta a los Gálatas

Resumen

Cristianos gálatas abandonan el mensaje paulino para aceptar “otro” evangelio propuesto por agitadores. La historia de la investigación ha planteado muy diversas hipótesis para su identificación, proveniencia, mensaje y motivación. El artículo defiende la teoría clásica según la cual cristianos de origen judío han llegado a Galacia para predicar la circuncisión y la observancia de fiestas judías y así intentar escapar de la persecución. El edicto de Claudio del año 49 en Roma mostró a los judíos que las comunidades cristianas en la diáspora constituían un peligro y no podían adoptar medidas disciplinarias que alteraran el orden público, por lo que intentarán mostrar o denunciar ante las autoridades romanas que los cristianos no forman parte de esta religión tolerada, pues no se circuncidan ni observan el calendario cultual judío. Ante esta situación, miembros de la comunidad cristiana de Jerusalén emprenden una misión antipaulina para exigir esas prescripciones judías para continuar bajo la cobertura del judaísmo.
