This is the fourth edition of the handbook originally published in Hebrew in 1989 and for the first time in English in 1992. The revision with respect to the third edition of 2012 is considerable: the integration of the latest research trends means that, with respect to the preceding text, we are in many ways faced with a practically new text. The greatest richness is found, of course, in the updated presentations of the theoretical developments based on the new evaluation of the textual evidence, which allow us to renew the approach to classic themes of textual criticism, such as the Masoretic text, the Samaritan Pentateuch and the Seventy.
