Pedro Mendoza Magallón, "Being crucified together with Christ." The new status of the believer in Christ. Exegetical-theological study of Gal 2:15-21 and Rom 6:5-11, Thess. Theology Series 122, Pontifical Gregorian University - Rome - 2005, 234 pp.
This thesis studies the only two Pauline texts where one finds the term systauróö (lit. "con-crucify"), "crucified together with Jesus Christ", presenting them - as the title indicates - as "the new status of the believer". To develop this work, he presents two parts. The first part is devoted to the text of Galatians and the second to the text of Romans, ending with a conclusion. Each of these two parts, in turn, is presented in three chapters, literary, exegetical and theological.
We are faced with a neat presentation of two Pauline pericopes, with a detailed and meticulous exegesis that deepens one by one the main themes that each verse presents, locating the term that is analyzed (systauróö) in its context and rhetorical dynamics which allows a complex reading of it. With an interesting update of the different positions and a classic reading of their possibilities.
