Abstract

The goal of this work is to find the traces of the hermeneutic process that took place in Jesus' life and that made him the architect of his praxis. We will suggest that his own person should be interpreted as a text.
We are interested in thinking about what would have happened in Jesus in a complementary way to what, generally, biblical research offers us (what would have happened with Jesus according to the simple development of the plot in the Gospels).
Having discussed the starting point of the essay, and starting from a general theory of the Ricoeurian imagination, we will advance in three stages along the following path: we will take the first step by analyzing the relationship between imagination and semantic innovation as the instruments by which Jesus would have been confronted with the ancient texts, with daily life, and in it, with the social imaginary. In a second moment, we will analyze the stage of transition from the theoretical sphere to the practical sphere, in which Jesus would have constructed an image through the selection of images in the prophetic writings. Finally, on the basis of the feedback between the social imaginary and the tension between ideology and utopia, we will review the life of Jesus and his public praxis, which includes the choice of a radical destiny.
