A Look at 2 Cor 2:14 from a Socio-Cultural Perspective

Abstract

The evident diversity in the way different Bibles translate the verb thriambeúo into 2 Cor 2:14 invite us to try and make a contribution on the subject, taking into account the framework and cultural context of Paul's time. 

From the context, and for the sake of consistency with Paul's theology, it seems probable that Paul thinks that we are led as if we were defeated by God in his triumph, unlike those who boast of their strength, their own capacities and the strength of the Law; but we were led to the definitive expectation of the imminent victory over death, associating ourselves with the resurrection of Christ, where God will manifest his strength in our weakness.
